UC DEM ORGANIZATIONAL PARTY

Great news! Julian Schreibman has won the chairmanship of the Ulster County Democratic Committee.

With a last minute rival, Roy Hochburg of Hurley, we got to see a showdown between the ways of the old guard and the brave new direction of Democratic politics.

It seems the persistent drive toward open and ethical government once again forced the members to rally around a candidate who embodied change.

Rejecting the conventional ways of politics of yesteryear, the crowd of about 300 made the loud statement that they’ve had enough of the Good Ol Boys, by voting 3 to 1 in favor of the brash new face of leadership.

I have to say the evening offered me the glimpse of what’s to come nationally. With the distinct move toward change, the Committee is now poised to take more seats in the County Legislature in 2009.

This year’s races needed some chutzpah considering we are chartering new territory at the county level and the opposition isn’t playing games with this one.

Schreibman and the new County Treasurer Ian Brody of Saugerties, both did amazingly well with the final numbers. Julian truly won the hearts of the Democratic Committee with the weighted votes totaling 17,000 to 6,000 in his favor.

Ian did an outstanding job with 13,000 to 5,000 against his opponent, having campaigned for the position for about four days.

Kathy Mihm’s campaign was really a coronation in that with her qualifications, and 27 year history as the number 2, she was destined to play the role of Elections Commissioner. She got not only a unanimous vote, but a standing ovation.

In all, it was a good night for the Party. The jubilation at the thought of a clean break from what ailed us as a party, also gives us the bounce we needed to kick ass this November.

too bad that Blaber does not share your views.

Jeremy is now looking for another group of unethical politicaians to nest with.
He lost the respect of the County Dems when he supported Roy, and now looks to the Kingston Committee who spent years calling him names behind his back.
Im expecting Sottile to apoint him so something very soon.

Sottile hates Blaber to a passion. Blaber had a DPW/Mayors task force job once and quit. It highly doubtful that he'll get any other city job.

Not only does the City Committee have less to say about county politics, but now the leach Blaber has to scramble for other hosts to support him. Its funny to watch.

Why anyone takes seriously what Blaber says is beyond me.

Why is Donaldson kissing Hoffay on the head?

Jeremy is a young man who needs to get his values straight. He seems to be more connected to political sources of power, rather than supporting Democratic Party values.

Hopefully, the changes in the party will open up his eyes. His attitude does not reflect well on Elliott Auerbach who ought to have a heart to heart with him.

Maybe Shane Gallo will become chairmen. You'll know this when Blaber is seen with Gallo stickers all over that truck he's been driving.
Get one thing straight, when he worked for the city, he was late everyday and couldn't do the job he was hired to do.

Your going to get change alright. Democrats will be a Minority Party next year. Thanks Boys, Good job.

Counting the days to when Blaber shuts down his BLOG

Looks like the day of Lew Kirschner and Al Spada selecting candidates for the Democrats is over. Lew got Mike Hein got in just in time. Certainly a lifelong Republican like Mike "lew kirschner" Hein would not have been the new "anti-good-old-boy" regime's first choice.

The Dems have already refused to cross endorse Judge Carpinello. Even hard core Dems like Eli Basch came to the Skytop to support Carpinello. Now the Dems don't support Carpinello. There is definitely a new sherriff in town.

This certainly can't bode well for Ms. Postupak. The new "anti-good-old-boy" Democratic regime probably won't be interested in a Good Old Girl like Nina Spadaupak. Word is in Kingston that she went to the Town of Wawarsing GOP dinner last Sunday and was already campaigning.

One would think that her good old boy deal with Parete for cross endorsement will not hold up under this new "anti-good-old-boy" crowd.

You should be gracious in your win. It's not necessary to gloat. Politics is a funny game. Your first mistake is alienating those who are not far left and beyond of the party. You have already determined any one that isn't Liberal isn't welcome in the party. So Goodbye for now. I'll save a lot of money on future fund raisers by your club members only.

Everything goes in cycles. When Democrats lose the legislature next year it will be time to get rid of Julian then.

We are all united in elected our Democratic candidate this year. Let's do it. I think all Democrats, regardless of who they supported for chair have to agree that our first order of business is to get a Democratic candidate for Ulster County Clerk. It would be great with 60% of Democrats being women, that a woman candidate surfaces.

Our second order of business is to insure that we will hold on to the majority in the legislature. Support all incumbents regardless of the past divisions, and encourage new candidates to step up.

No Democrat is going to beat Nina Postupak. She is doing a fantastic job, looking for many ways to save taxpayers dollars and other area's to raise revenue. I say no Democrat will beat her because she is admired by both parties. You just won't see it until election day. Republican's are delighted with the new Democrat leader,(delighted in "ha, ha)

Everything does go in cycles, and the wheel turns slowly. And when 11:37 says there's a new sherrif (sic) in town, he is also predicting the future return of a gop sheriff.
