REPAIR OF CITY HALL STEPS

I don't know how many people get to drive past City Hall here in Kingston, but you should know that the front steps are finally being repaired.

I was looking at the surface of the mounting foundation where the steps are placed and there is a poly-based membrane as an underlayment where the mortar is applied. Similar to the weather shield that us roofers use under modern shingles. I didn't expect this but there it was.

So I took a few pictures and thought to post them here.

I'll just say, it's great that the job is finally under way.

Lets just hope they last longer this time. The taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill every 10 years to fix what shoulda been done right the first time.

I am happy that they are finally able to repair the front steps. Now the public can see the beautiful entry way into city hall. I was concerned about the impression it would make on visitors who travel about the city. What does it say about the city when your city hall goes into disrepair? Being a fan of bluestone and one who maintains bluestone on my property(sidewalks and patio)I also want to state that they need preventive maintenance on a regular basis. Special de-icer in winter has to be applied and any cracks via weeds or age has to be addressed on a regular basis. By doing this we can hold back on a major repair problem in the future.Taxpayers cannot keep paying for neglect.

Mike, this has nothing to do with the City Hall steps, but......what is the delay with the Walgreen's on the corner of Broadway and East Chester? They haven't work there in at least three weeks? Since it's in your ward, I figured I'd ask a guy who may know. Thanks!

How about weekly updates to see if they are going over budget? Don't give them a blank check you'll be sorry.

I stopped by the Bernardo residence and I'll tell you, the workmanship of the LaTore Construction team is phenomenal.

We are in good hands.
