THE COFFEE PARTY

Just as I suspected. There would come a time when the majority of the country would get tired of the Tea Party members claiming to speak for everyone. They don't. Lets welcome the Coffee Party!

It's a nice play on the Tea Party name, but has an authentic desire to join in coffee shops across the country to have rational conversation rather than chanting anti-Obama slogans. Imagine chatting with people who have shared your same disgust with the incendiary dialogue coming from those who oppose all things Washington and discuss common interests.

MISSION:
The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the chall
Ienges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.

I think this is a terrific idea, considering we have had neighborhood gatherings at select coffee shops through the years locally with notable success. We know the desire is there and we know the locations are available. With one serious addition...I like Coffee more than Tea.

This is terrific news. I saw this coming.
When the Facebook fanpage numbers grew at such a fast pace and the media started to talk about it, I knew they would be on to something.
When we watch the Tea people screaming on TV we think, aren't there others among us who feel differently? Indeed there are.
I will be looking for a local chapter or start one myself. The silent majority may have finally awoken.

I remember the early days of the Tea Party movement when we all saw one of their leaders, Dale Robertson standing there with that awful racist sign. I have a feeling the Coffee people will not be following the same path.

Hate to burst your bubble, but at all the rallies I have been to, there were no, zero, none, nada signs of racism. In fact, there were folks there of multiple ethnic backgrounds, and all of them were in agreement with the goals of limited government, self-determination, and personal responsibility.
As to your remarks about Dale Robertson, it might be a bit more honest if you also included the facts that the Houston Tea Party threw him out of their rallies, that they report he never was a part of the Tea Party there, and that he is reported to be a con artist. But, hey, why let facts get in the way of a good story, right?

It has long been believed by the left that any kind of political demonstration by the right is illegitimate. The left believes that kind of political speech belongs to them.

I would take their call for cooperation more seriously if they didn't only believe it when their party is in power. When the Republicans held the White House, Senate and the House they believed in defiance, not cooperation, and then argued that the filibuster in the Senate was about "minority rights", in a lame and obvious attempt to link it racial issues. It is funny how one's perch changes their perspective.

What ever happened to the anti-war demonstrations we used to see at the street corners when Bush was in office? These parties and groups seem to be in it for themselves and change positions when they are in power. We need to start looking out for the people that pay their taxes and go to work everyday and support the USA. I find what is going on in Washington a national disaster, we need healthcare reform but not govt take over. See what they have done with GM, Student loans, post office, banks, etc. They have made a mess out of Medicare and now we wnat them running all healthcare? Medicare is the insurer that denys coverage more then any other insurer. The tea Party movement is just a start. NYS is an example of why we are in the mess we are in. Other states are taking responsibility for their own people and are moving forward to create jobs and opportunity.
Now may be the time to move to an state where opportunity still has a chance. NY taxes you to death.

You should come out to the next Tea Party Rally. There are many democrats there, as am I. These people in addition to many independents and non-enrolled have very Liberal social views, but the great thing about the tea party movement is that no one really cares or argues over the social issues, we come together on common ground of limited government and controlling government spending.

But unfortunately there are many that would rather think of ways to put down this movement rather than truly seek to understand it. So sit back and be ignorant of the facts and continue to inspire these people with your name calling and ignorance and see what happens on election day.

By the way, the base groups that founded the tea party are the very same that protested Bush and were hailed as heros during those eight years by the very same pelosi's, Hincheys and Schumers that seek to attack them now.

The Tea Party folks are not opposed to Obama because of the color of his skin, but because of his extremist, anti-American policies. Barack Obama is - bar none - the single worst President in American history. It would be racist to deny his inability to lead simply because he is black.
