OUR TRADE POLICY

Just thought to post this graph and hear if readers have any thoughts on what could cure the chronic loss of Tech jobs in the private sector?

Change the tariff structure and eliminate the tax break for companies who send these jobs overseas?

Thoughts?

What you have mentioned as examples hits the economic situation on the head. NAFTA & CAFTA have been disastrous to the US economy in that it completely opened the markets to the manufacturing abuses we feel today. How the auto industry has survived, is beyond me.

How anyone thinks the new Republican controlled House is going to work against big business special interest groups that put them there is just silly talk, so as far as answering your question...I don't think you'll see much change coming from the new leadership.

Those same industries that invested millions in campaign donations through relaxed restrictions (thank you Citizens United) will insure that our middle class will remain the forgotten class as these corporations continue to send jobs overseas.

You graph showing the exodus of Tech Jobs is charming, but until there is a different mindset in DC, you'll see no effort to change what is already bought & paid for.

The republicans decided to betray the Tea Baggers even earlier than I expected.

They loaded the congress with lobbyists and hacks, they’ve refused to lower pay for senators, and next they will raise the debt ceiling.

But the tea baggers never cared about “fiskul ruspawnsuhbility” in the first place. They will happily swallow the lies next time around.

Start with education and require a lot more of it for everyone.
Discipline is not abuse and structure is not a violation of human rights.

Offer Junior college to everyone. Require High school diplomas for drivers licences. Merit pay for teachers. More math, science and engineering courses.

Stop the loopholes for banks and corps to send jobs overseas and sandbag taxable income elsewhere. Penalize them if necessary.

It's well beyond stopping the bleeding,it's like preventing major amputations.

Get behind populist causes and stop allowing Fox and Fiends from framing all the arguments and twisting all the truth out of progressive thought and ACTION.

Read,Read, Read and get involved locally. Bill Bradley and Arianna

well said Smitty (lol) - and good to see you putting some stuff out there...

this tech stuff is potentially dangerous as well...

how about "humping" (is that how our youth might put it?) "that?"

what is the next wmd? will it be the size of an ipod marketed by one of these overseas companies as a revolutionary "new toy" that everyone "must have?"

will we have it made in Indonesia or China (or wherever) by slave labor that the greedy f&&ks in America salivate over?

will we be stupid enough to buy it, distribute it, "eat our own toes..."? [I love that saying...]

agh...

thank you for all you have done for me smitty. truly and sincerely... but any dreams we might have had about invoking any original thought or action in the world at large...

seem to be pipe dreams...
opium (minus the opium) giggles...
sh$t on a park bench...

keep it up Smitty!

keep it up Mike!

but remember to live, love and laugh today...

because there are princes and paupers, kings and fools...

and it appears to me that the clock [self-fulfilling prophecies abound at all levels, from the "personal to the political...") keeps on ticking... and nobody is listening...

love you guys. admire you guys...

Both (lol, you know what I'm saying...) in your own way.

Don't give up the fight!

Mike, you are amazing...
Thank you for all you have done and attempted to do.

Smitty, you are amazing...
You have a LOT going for you that I just ain't got...
So jump on in [I can't go on this particular ride anymore...] and give them hell!

This guy is brilliant Mike. Reel him [Democratic party] in...

I'll step politely to the side.

Why don't you show a graph of the government jobs in the City of Kingston against it's population.
